“Q&A with Louise Erdrich”

Louise Erdrich is the author of twelve novels as well as volumes of poetry, children’s books, and a memoir of early motherhood. Her novel Love Medicine won the National Book Critics Circle Award. The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse was a finalist for the National Book Award. She lives in Minnesota with her daughters and is the owner of Birchbark Books, a small independent bookstore.

An article in the July 13 issue of Newsweek lists “50 Books for Our Time: What to Read Now and Why.” It’s not a “best of” or “greatest books” list, but a list of titles that “open a window on the times we live in, whether they deal directly with the issues of today or simply help us see ourselves in new and surprising ways.” The list begins with Anthony Trollope’s The Way We Live Now. An interesting choice….
